چکیده

We argue that the unusually strong electron-electron interactions in narrow bands moir\'e superlattices originate from well-localized Wannier orbitals. Enhanced overlaps of electronic wavefunctions, enabled by such orbitals, result a el-el superlattice umklapp scattering. identify scattering processes as source temperature-dependent resistivity observed these systems. In simple model, predicts $T$-dependent grows $T^2$ and is getting bigger orbital radius decreases. quantify enhancement Kadowaki-Woods (KW) ratio, quantity sensitive to but, helpfully, insensitive effects due high density states. Our analysis anomalously large KW ratio values clearly indicate importance their impact on resistivity.

Umklapp scattering at reconstructed quantum-Hall edges

We study the low-lying excitations of a quantum-Hall sample that has undergone edge reconstruction such that there exist three branches of chiral edge excitations. Among the interaction processes that involve electrons close to the three Fermi points is a new type of Umklapp-scattering process which has not been discussed before. Using bosonization and a refermionization technique, we obtain ex...

Moire bands in twisted double-layer graphene.

A moiré pattern is formed when two copies of a periodic pattern are overlaid with a relative twist. We address the electronic structure of a twisted two-layer graphene system, showing that in its continuum Dirac model the moiré pattern periodicity leads to moiré Bloch bands. The two layers become more strongly coupled and the Dirac velocity crosses zero several times as the twist angle is reduc...

Friedel oscillations, impurity scattering, and temperature dependence of resistivity in graphene.

We show that Friedel oscillations (FO) in grapehene are strongly affected by the chirality of electrons in this material. In particular, the FO of the charge density around an impurity show a faster (deltarho approximately r;{-3}) decay than in conventional 2D electron systems and do not contribute to a linear temperature-dependent correction to the resistivity. In contrast, the FO of the excha...

Brillouin and Umklapp scattering in polybutadiene: comparison of neutron and x-ray scattering.

We report a comparison of high resolution inelastic x-ray Brillouin scattering to coherent inelastic neutron scattering for amorphous deuterated polybutadiene, done for one temperature in the glass phase and another one in the melt. The x-ray scattering proves to be by far the better technique for such a polymer within its present resolution bounds. The neutron scattering allows one to extend t...
